Sir Temistokle Zammit Commemorative Silver Coin
The ‘Sir Temistokle Zammit’ Commemorative Coin The Central Bank of Malta have just issued a Lm5 Silver coin commemorating the locally renowned professor of medicine ‘Sir Temistokle Zammit’. He was known for his versatility in intelligence, which ranged from medicine to history and literature. Born in 1864, Temi Zammit (as he was easrlier known) was a great scientist who was engaged in the research of Undulant Fever, he was appointed rector of the Univeristy of Malta and received various internationally recognized medals from major European Institutions. The Obverse of this coin shows the Emblem of the Republic of Malta together with the year of issue. The reverse depicts ‘Sir Temistokle Zammit’ together with his birth and death dates, and the ‘Europa’ programme logo of which this coin forms part of.
