The ‘Xprunara’ Gold Collection Coin

Next week, The Central Bank Of Malta will be issuing its first gold coin for the year 2002. The gold commemorative coin, which has a face value of Lm 10.00, is called the ‘Xprunara’ and is of a maritime theme.

This gold coin, which is legal tender in Malta for Lm 10.00, is Proof Like, and was designed by Mr. Joseph Muscat and struck at the Royal Mint in the United Kingdom. Amongst this coin the Royal Mint has also issued numerous other coins, which together forms part of the set named ‘The Royal Mint Precious Fine Gold Collection’

The obverse of this coin shows the Coat of Arms of The Republic Of Malta together with the year 2002. The reverse shows the ‘Xprunara’ type 18th century sailing ship.
